Welcome to the “Lusons” tribute website!

Our blog-site exists to document our “Big Trip” adventure and to pay tribute to aspects of our family history.

2012, will mark 35 years since my brother and I travelled to Western Australia with our parents to start a new life! Our ‘new life’ didn’t last longer than 18 months before we packed-up & returned to Gosford, NSW.

We plan to return to WA this year in a vehicle from the 70′s period in an attempt to revisit every place we stopped at on the original trip.

Using old Super-8 movie footage that we took on the original journey as a guide, we hope to find as many of the 1977 stop-overs as we can.

Why are we doing this? Well, like any adventure the reasons are numerous and complex – mid-life crisis, a good excuse to ‘get away from it all’, a desire to ‘achieve’ something or something deeper? I don’t think either of us can answer that question honestly, yet! But, as our adventure unfolds I believe our true motivations will be slowly revealed.
